City of firsts is first to go green
Huston Electric is proud to be a part of Indiana’s first LEED certified Subway Sandwich restaurant, located on Markland Ave
in Kokomo, Indiana. The construction was a bold and forward thinking project collaborated by Brandon Pitcher of Fortune
Management and Subway owner George Estep.
| The Subway is built entirely with sustainable products and processes thereby reducing carbon footprint and energy usage. Using our versatile Control4 system, Huston Electric had the opportunity to create a fully automated lighting, HVAC, and energy monitoring system. The building is fit with programmable light switches, thermostats, motion sensors, daylight sensors, and an energy monitoring device that all communicate wirelessly with the Control4 controller. Here are some of the systems fully automated processes: |
The Control 4 system is Smart! This is a display added to the dinning room wall to show everyone how much energy was being saved each day by the system. Each wall control is programed to go on or off automatically. The Control 4 thermostat is programmed to run different heating and cooling zones. It can also can be monitored and controlled from a remote location. Nate going over the system functions with the Subway team. Nate going over the system functions with the Subway team. Control4 allowed us to combine high tech with a positive environmental impact. By organizing the different systems to work
together we’ve created effortless control with environmental consciousness. Huston would like to thank Brandon Pitcher and
George Estep for the opportunity to be a part of this great step into the future of building.
