Huston Electric daily news and information.
For one week Huston Electric employee Brady McKinney traveled to New Orleans, LA to help in the re-building efforts from hurricane Katrina. Although it has been several years since the hurricane, there is still a lot of work to be done. Brady traveled alongside 7 other IUPUI students; they stayed at the Church of the Annunciation, which is located in the heart of the Broadmoor Community where more than 80% of the homes were damaged from Katrina
Brady was able to help in several ways while he was in New Orleans. He helped to re-build a new porch for a person’s home and also helped improve the one and only playground for kids of the Broadmoor Community. Brady also passed out food to those in the community who needed it the most.
“It is amazing how much work still needs to be done. Just when we think we have it rough we need to think about what those people went through and what they are still going through. Even though I could not build someone a new home or give them a million dollars it is good feeling when you see the smiles on their faces as you show up to help them out in any way” stated Brady.
Matt Boor, Vice President of Sales for Huston added, “We appreciate Brady taking time to help those in need and we were honored to help sponsor his mission trip. We are fortunate to have many team members at Huston that give their time, monies and energy to better our communities and Nation.”
