Local leaders appointed to workforce board
Region 4 Workforce Investment Board Members Appointed
LAFAYETTE, June 20, 2011 – Lafayette Mayor, Tony Roswarski, Workforce System Chief Elected Official, for Region 4 recently appointed directors of the region’s workforce board. The 31 member Board begins their official duties July 1, 2011. Terms of appointment expire June 30, 2013. Directors appointed from Howard County include:
· Stephen Daily, Chancellor, Ivy Tech Community College
· Matt Boor, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Huston Electric
· Debra Cook, Director, Community and Economic Development, City of Kokomo
· Mitch Morrow, Haynes International, United Steel Workers, Local 2958
The Board oversees workforce development activities and initiatives through their guardianship of workforce development funds that are allocated to the workforce service area for use in employment and training activities of adult, dislocated worker, and youth and the WorkOne Center operations of the Region. The Board also collaborates with economic development officials to provide workforce and employment data by providing labor analysis services, conducting job task analyses (job profiling), and tailoring REACH services to screen, assess, and refer qualified job candidates to their communities’ key industrial employers.
The Region 4 Workforce Service Area includes the counties of Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Miami, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren and White.
