Do you remember carrying around that 8-pound binder you had filled with all of those shiny little round things called CDs? The audio quality was fantastic on all the new music and even Steve Miller Band’s greatest hits sounded amazing remastered. And then came along this little device called the Ipod.  And we said, “You mean I can take all my Weezer, Nirvana, and Pink Floyd CDs and put them in my hip pocket? Count me in.

Onmi Forge’s old-fashioned 440 watt high pressure sodium lights kept their plant dull and yellowed, so they reached out to Huston Electric for a lighting upgrade. Inefficient lighting inflates energy costs and can have a negative impact on employee safety and morale.  Huston Electric recommended switching their lighting over to LED, which can cut energy costs in half, and can improve morale, safety and the overall workspace atmosphere.

To accommodate Omni Forge’s production schedule, the Huston Electric crew worked second shift, reducing any employee safety issues or down time. They got to work right away, first removing all 75 of the 440 watt fixtures and disposing of them in an environmentally safe way. Huston Electric then furnished and installed 75 brand-new 183 watt, energy efficient LED Lithonia light fixtures in the nonproduction 277 volt area.

Wabash Stations

We are always telling you about new signs and the latest and greatest that we have to offer, but did you know we can work with what you’ve got to give your sign a facelift? We recently worked with Wabash Stations to rebuild their existing pole sign and install new faces for their tenants. This sign was rusted and falling apart, but it wasn’t too big a challenge for us! We removed the cabinet and rebuilt it to ensure that it was safe and secure. The sign was originally meant to illuminate, but the customer didn’t require that anymore so we fabricated metal faces with vinyl graphics, which are changeable, allowing flexibility with tenants. It was easy to miss this sign before, but we think this transformation has made it a real STAND OUT! How can we help you give your existing sign a new look?

If you’re hungry and on the go Dan the Man’s is for you, their food is amazing and the service is top notch!  That’s why we were so excited when Dan gave us the opportunity to work with him on his vehicle graphics.  He wanted something fun and eye-catching, and we had a blast designing it.  After we finished his food truck he was so happy with the outcome that he had us add graphics to his personal vehicle.  You certainly won’t drive past without noticing him now, so be sure to stop and grab a bite to eat with this STAND OUT client!

Huston Electric’s Sign Division is privileged to have worked with the UAW Local 685 on the sign for their new location.  The idea for this sign was a long-time in the making as we offered several options on materials and how the sign could be made.  During the design process we tried different colors and sizes and ultimately landed on this beauty. This laser cut, multi-layer sign is a one of a kind that really makes a statement with its copper detail and dimensional look. 

Since 1977, Kokomo has held the Haynes Apperson Festival in commemoration of the pioneer auto company of the same name.  The company was founded by Elwood Haynes and brothers Elmer and Edgar Apperson.  Haynes-Apperson Company was a manufacturer of Brass Era automobiles in Kokomo, Indiana, from 1896-1905.  It was the first automobile manufacturer in Indiana, and among the first in the United States.  Elwood Haynes was the inventor of stainless steel and stellite, and many of the early advances in automobile technology were first invented by the company. The Haynes Apperson Festival has become one of Kokomo’s premier events, with visitors traveling in each year for the holiday weekend fun.

Every summer for the last 35 years, food vendors, musicians, and thousands of hungry people have filled the streets of downtown Lafayette for the annual Taste of Tippecanoe. With this year’s construction, setting up the 33 vendors and 4 music stages could have been quite difficult. Fortunately, Huston Electric rose to the challenge and got the job done.

Nearly everyone in Lafayette has eaten at one of the Hunter’s Pub locations, so owners Sandy and Jeff Tyrie certainly didn’t need our help bringing in customers.  However, they recently underwent some name changes and wanted to get their signage updated with their new names and logos.  Hunter’s Down Under is now simply “Down Under”, and Hunter’s Pub South is now “Legacy Pub”. 

Check out the new channel letters at Rabb / Kinetico on 931 South in Kokomo.  These letters are front lit with Day/Night vinyl faces so during the day the letters are blue and black, but when they illuminate at night they shine white!  We also gave the existing pylon a facelift by giving the cabinet and pole a fresh coat of paint and putting in painted faces with embossed lettering.  If you could use some updates to your existing signs or are thinking about new signs then give Huston's Sign Division a call.  We'll enhance the look of your storefront with new signs that really stand out!
