b2ap3_thumbnail_PICT0722_20150722-185429_1.jpgThe Tipton County Fairgrounds are really “getting the word out” with their new electronic message center!  What better way to advertise their special events than with this awesome new digital sign?!

The Fairgrounds previously had a static sign with changeable plastic letters so they were only able to advertise one message at a time.  Now with the new Daktronics electronic message center they can change their message every few seconds to inform the community of their events.

Huston Electric’s Account Executive, Samantha Milburn, worked with Lary Graves of the Tipton County Fairgrounds on the planning of this project.  Lary felt a digital sign would be a great way for the Fairgrounds to let more people in the community know about the various events they host throughout the year.  He was tired of having to change the plastic letters on the old sign and knew that a digital sign would get more attention.  Because so many businesses in Tipton utilize the Fairgrounds’ indoor and outdoor facilities they have come to have close relationships with many of these business owners.  Lary thought some of these businesses would be interested in sponsoring the new digital sign so he approached several of them with the idea and it was a hit!  In return for their sponsorship Lary decided to display these sign sponsors’ logos or business names on the aluminum portion of the sign as well as market their information digitally on the sign.

Huston removed the previous sign and provided and installed the new Daktronics electronic message center, ID cabinet with painted sign faces reading “TIPTON COUNTY”, and black aluminum shrouding with sponsor decals.  We also provided wireless radios to communicate with the sign and trained on how to use the software.

If you feel your business could benefit by advertising your products, specials, and sales on a new electronic message then please contact Samantha Milburn at [email protected].

b2ap3_thumbnail_b2ap3_thumbnail_Eight38GraphicsLogoCreation.jpgWhile Eight38 can work with ready-made artwork, or utilize your existing logo and copy to create graphics for your business, vehicle, print media, or signs, we can also help you from the very beginning with all your branding and logo creation needs.

When opening or rebranding a business there are tons of things to consider, but it’s important not to overlook your logo which sets the tone for your business and becomes your customers first impression as they view your advertisement, website, or look for your sign when driving to your business.  Your logo is often seen not only on your sign and storefront, but also on shirts, letterhead, business cards, vehicle graphics, websites, social media, and much more.  Beyond having a quality logo, it’s important to have clean logo files – and to be the owner of those logo files.  At Eight38 we not only help you to create your logo, we also give you the files in multiple formats - which you’ll need when you sponsor that little league team, or take an ad out in the paper.  We also give you information on your pms colors, and discuss early on how the logo will transfer to different uses such as using a single color logo or utilizing your logo for embroidery on uniforms.

Daniel Ellrich, who specializes in logo creation, is one of Eight38’s Graphic Designers.   We asked him about his approach to designing a logo, of which he said, “When I’m asked to create a logo for a new company, I tend to dive all in. I usually start out by simply typing the name of the company and staring at it for several minutes. I look at the letters, I look at the spacing between the letters, and I look for balance in the words/name of the company.  I start to sketch out concepts and anything that I can think of that relates to the company name. I always try and get my coworkers involved in the process because great design is hardly accomplished by one person. “

We also asked what makes his logos STAND OUT.  Daniel said, “I try to incorporate the essence of the business, as simply as possible, into my design. I love to include subtle hints as to what the business does into my designs. For example Grants Heavy Duty Service repairs large trucks and heavy machinery so I wanted to incorporate a wrench or a tool somehow without just drawing a wrench. I played with the G and was able to hide a wrench head in the letter.  In the logo for Integrity Towing and Roadside service I was able to turn the Y into a tow truck arm and dot the “I” with the Hook, its taking something ordinary and turning into something original.”

What does your logo say about you?  Is it something that you’d be proud to have on your business?  Your car?  Your shirt?  If you are in need of a new logo or a logo update call Eight38, we’ll make you and your business STAND OUT!

Michelle Wells, with Taylor Power Solutions, has been a long time customer of Eight38. The staff at Eight38 has wrapped many of her vehicles with both digital prints and cut vinyl, as well as used printed perforated vinyl on back windshields. This vehicle is the latest full wrap we have done on one of her brand new fleet vehicles. We worked with her to match their branding, and showcase their products. This wrap will help protect the resale value of her vehicle by protecting the paint from scratches, salt, dirt, and other normal wear and tear, all while keeping her top of mind, lending credibility to her brand, and helping her STAND OUT!

Please keep in mind that your fleet vehicles can serve as moving billboards. A custom wrap by Eight38 will help you get noticed and grow your business. Your vehicles are already on the road, so why not make them drivable marketing materials?

Michelle said of her experience “Huston 838 walked me through the whole process and made this experience a great one. I would recommend Huston 838 for all my wrap and vinyl needs!”

b2ap3_thumbnail_front.jpgDid you know the Salvation Army has moved to Markland Avenue? Huston was privileged to have helped with the signage and electrical needs at their new location. To help save on the investment we were able to re-use the existing Salvation Army logo shields and we then provided and installed new front-lit channel letters reading “FAMILY STORE”. We were also able to re-use their 6’ tall Salvation Army shield over the loading dock for identification for deliveries. Huston’s Electrical Service Division provided electrical service to the garage doors at the loading dock and various other components in the building.

Samantha Milburn, Account Executive for Huston’s Sign Division, worked with Captain Brandenburg of the Salvation Army from start to finish on the project. Samantha coordinated with Captain Brandenburg on the design of the channel letters according to Salvation Army corporate marketing standards and obtained sign permits from Kokomo’s Plan Commission and oversaw the project in its entirety. This is the type of service that Huston’s staff can provide to you. Let us help you with your signage needs and we guarantee to deliver quality service and products each and every time.

b2ap3_thumbnail_mainstreet_fab_20150722-192543_1.jpgThe Main Street assisted living center project in Lafayette was awarded to
Huston Electric in mid-April of 2014. Once the drawings were received by
Huston Electric, Prefab shop manager Brady McKinney and Prefab shop
foreman Rob Melin instantly saw the opportunity to use the Prefab shop to
help with the coordination, planning, and budgeting of this project. They then
sat down with project foreman Ken Rayman to discuss the plan of attack, and
the steps needed to prefab all the necessary material needed for the individual
rooms and hallways. After the plan was in place work began immediately to
ensure the project stayed on schedule. The Prefab shop was in charge of
assembling all the devices needed for the rooms and hallways, as well as
the low voltage data, cutting smurf tube for the low voltage boxes, cutting
over 30,000 feet of MC Cable for homeruns, device wiring, and assembling
homerun terminal boxes. When all necessary material was assembled for a
room, it was placed into a bin labeled with the room’s number along with the
room’s drawing and was deemed ready to be shipped. These bins were then
delivered to the job site and ready to be installed in their respected rooms.
This process ensured that the room installations went smooth and were done
in the most efficient way possible. The job plans to be completed in
the winter of 2014.

Last year, Kevin Krippner with Culligan contacted Sarah Hill in regards to sprucing up their existing pylon sign.  The existing sign was chipped, faded, out of date, and had their old logo on it.  We removed the existing faces, scraped the existing posts, painted the posts “Culligan Blue” and installed the new pan, painted, embossed sign faces with the new logo.  The signs looks great, and with such a beautiful exterior we thought we should bring some branding inside with an interior wall wrap.  Kevin had put a lot of effort into remodeling the interior of this building, but his existing paneled counter didn’t fit in anymore.  Eight38 Graphics suggested wrapping the desk with vinyl graphic, to give the paneling a fresh look that would really STAND OUT!b2ap3_thumbnail_cul2.png

“I had Sarah Hill with Eight38 Graphics give me a quote on bringing my 40 year old Culligan sign back to life.  It was sun faded, rusty, and the lights did not work.  I was a bit skeptical at first, because the rust was pretty bad - but their paint job took care of that matter.  Sarah and her crew did a great job with the graphics and the implementation of the sign.  I was really impressed with the additional suggestions that Sarah had.  The one I really love is a Culligan sign that is displayed on our front counter.  You will not be disappointed with Sarah and the Eight38 Graphics team” –Kevin Krippner, General Manager, Culligan.

Ryan Clevenger, General Manager of Harley-Davidson of Kokomo, believes in having a beautiful showroom for his clients. Whether you’re one of his regulars or visiting his store for the first time you can’t help but be impressed when you walk through the door. That’s why he saw potential in the shop portion of his building.

b2ap3_thumbnail_before_after3-440-300-300-80.pngHe knows that if you ride you are going to be coming in for service, so why shouldn’t the back of house look as good as the front? He asked us to revamp the service area, using vintage logos to make the ultimate man cave. Eight38 designed a town with motorcycles, using Harley-Davidson of Kokomo’s logo in the artwork. We installed non slip floor graphics, perforated window vinyl, signabond backed digital prints, and much more! The break room window, which eliminated privacy for the staff, is now covered in dry erase vinyl to make it not only beautiful, but practical. Even the garage doors got the royal treatment, now serving to remind customers of maintenance items and advertise Harley’s capabilities in serving their clients. Now when you walk into the service area you will find yourself as blown away as when you walk through the front doors, Harley-Davidson is a shining example of how to take your branding to the next level to really STAND OUT!

Ryan said of the project “My staff and I would like to thank you for helping us create a design that not only fits our dealerships personality but also is aesthetically amazing.  From design to install your crew was awesome to work with!  I'm glad our businesses made a connection and look forward to working with you again in the future.”
